128×64 OLED for Pi Zero with Nico

Post by nyu69171 »

Since the Rpi Zero W is out of stock everywhere, I've been wondering if I can use an Rpi Pico with the Adafruit 128×64 OLED Bonnet for Rpi Zero
(https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-128 ... i/overview). The main issue I'm seeing is that the Bonnet has 40 GPIO connectors, and the Rpi Pico only has 26 pins. As long as the Bonnet doesn't actually need to be connected to 40 separate GPIO pins I suppose it should be possible to set it up, right?
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to connect this Bonnet with a Pico, and if so do you know how I should connect it - i.e. which IO to which? Or will I just have to wait until I get my hands on a Zero?

Just noticed my typo in the title.. "Nico" should be "Pico". I can't edit the OP, so if an admin want to change that for me that'd be nice.

It *may* be possible. There isn't specific information on how to make the connections. But you could try using the OLED schematic:
https://learn.adafruit.com/assets/42397
to determine the pinout and then connect as needed.

The OLED itself uses the I2C pins SCL/SDA.

The joystick and buttons are all GPIO.

You'll also need 3.3V power.
