Pi Zero lost it's magic blue smoke...

Post by Kurt_R »

Hey there,

I just plugged in and tried to boot my lastest Pi Zero, but I smelled smoke and it got really hot before I unplugged it.
Now it won't boot or power on and still gets really hot.

I doubt if it's ever going to work now, but I was hoping to get a replacement.
Probably just some weird short or something, but i had it on cardboard.

As a quick check, what voltages do you see on the 3.3v and 5v pins?

They both measure 0.00 and the CPU stills starts to get very hot.

That sounds like something in the microprocessor has shorted.

Send a note containing a link to this thread and your order number to [email protected]. The folks there will get you a replacement.
