Connecting both power switch and speaker bonnet

Post by Cainkirisgai »

Good day everyone was wondering if it is possible to connect both a power switch and a speaker bonnet at the same time to the raspberry 3 gpio. Been looking all around and couldn't find anything minus a tutorial for doing one or the other but not both. I don't know if I was phrasing the question wrong or if Google just doesn't wanna help me lol. Here is a link to the speaker bonnet so you can see what one I'm spefically talking about. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MXYBV ... ref=plSrch

You should be able to connect both without any problems. The Speaker Bonnet only uses a few of the RasPi’s GPIO pins, and the others are broken out to a row of holes that you can use for other things:

This should be my last question but would it be possible to to solder two things to one port? Or would that possibly cause a short? Most going to be the switch and just a bridge wire to another pin on another board. Board I'm using is from the official pi 7inch touch screen, wiring the pins so that way only need to power either the board or the screen to power both . Hope I didn't make that confusing

It depends on what you call a 'port'.. that word has several meanings related to programmable hardware and the RasPi.

If you mean, 'can I solder two wires into the same hole in the PCB?' that's fine.. it won't cause any problems at all.
