raspberry pi zero w bad hdmi port

Post by sehamada »

Hello

my dad got me a raspberry pi zero w for christmas and when I hook it up to my tv it works but there are a lot of green pixel on my tv so then me and him went out to best buy and purchased a second hdmi mini to regular hdmi adapter and it still didn't work. I even tried it in on the tv in the living room but the same problem was occurring. so what I want to do is not return it but get a replacement.

That's a known issue:

https://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Display

It means the HDMI signal isn't quite strong enough. You can usually make it work by adding the line:

Code: Select all

config_hdmi_boost=7
to the file /boot/config.txt

You have to edit /boot/config.txt using `sudo`, or move the SD card to a desktop computer and edit the file there.

I have the same issue with my two raspberry zero that I've bought I plug them in but it doesn't seem to have a signal in the HDMI I troubleshooted by connecting my raspberry 3 and it works fine to the HDMI so it's not my HDMI connection thanks

@freddyja: Please start a new thread for your issue. Trying to handle more than one set of hardware in a thread is just asking for confusion.

@sehamada: Send a note containing a link to this thread and your order number to [email protected]. The folks there will get you a replacement display, and will arrange return shipping for the one you have now.
