Hello,
I am using the Raspberry Pi motor hat (https://www.adafruit.com/product/2348) to power 4 small vibrating motors (these: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11008).
I think these motors only draw about 85mA each. Almost always only one motor will be on at a time, maximum is 2 motors on at a time for a very short period.
I am running the system off of a 5V battery that can deliver over 2A. I would like to power the RPi and the motors from the same battery (i.e just have one battery).
Instead of having 2 leads come out of the battery, sending one set to the Pi and one set to the motor hat, can I just take 5V out from the Pi pins (or motor hat 5V pins) and put them in the input of the motor hat power screw terminals?
If so, which pins would be best to do this from (on the pi or motor hat)?
Thanks!

Re: RPi motor hat power question
For small motors like that, you can probably tap into the RasPi 5v bus without causing any problems. You should be able to take 5v from the 5v pin on the GPIO header. The GND is already connected.
