Looking at the Rasp Pi Speaker Bonnet (https://www.adafruit.com/product/3346), wondering if it has a volume control or if there is a way to add one?
Thank you...

You have to do that in the ALSA configuration:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-spe ... ntrol-7-10
There's no analog option.

Re: Volume Control on Adafruit I2S 3W Stereo Speaker Bonnet
I've spend several days trying to get the volume control working in alsamixer. I've used the latest Raspbarian (full and lite versions). My best results were using the setup instructions in the PDF manual. I'm using a Pi Zero W and the Speaker Bonnet cam with header attached.
Sometimes the volume control works but most of the time it doesn't and the volume is set at 100% leading to bad distortion of the sound. When the volume control stops working a re-run of the setup and a reboot may fix it but not always. When the volume control is working I can power down then power up and have it working yet next day volume control is gone.
With the Speaker Bonnet volume at under 86% the sound quality is great. Without volume control the volume is 100% and awful.
One of the things I tried was to install Pulse Audio and that led to the screeching others have reported. A fresh install of Rasparian fixed that.
I've posted a lot of detail on the Core Electronics forum under Speaker Bonnet.
Is this a known problem? Could it be an intermittent fault with my device?

Re: Volume Control on Adafruit I2S 3W Stereo Speaker Bonnet
If you're getting any audio at all, the Speaker Bonnet is probably working at the hardware level.
ALSA is complicated and poorly documented. Unfortunately you have to poke around until you find something that works, then try not to interfere with it.
The distortion might be due to the Speaker Bonnet overdriving your speakers though. What's the power rating and impedance of your speakers?
