PiTFT 3.2" (resistive) Touchscreen not respond

by rolandnagy on Mon May 03, 2021 9:28 am

Hi,

I've bought an Adafruit PiTFT 3.2" TFT Resistive touch screen for a Raspbery PI 4 B. I went through the "Easy Install" steps and the display part of the device is works fine, but it's not responds to any of touch. I can't see any of error message.

So, what can I do with the touchscreen?

Thanks,
Roland

We have perhaps the same problem as 2.4, 2.8 and 3.2 resistive seem to use the same driver.

And did you check this page?
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-pit ... -calibrate

What's the output of this command:
dmesg | grep stmpe-spi

Hi,

thanks for the answer. Yes, I've already tried the manual install steps but it didn't help, the touchscreen is not good yet.

I get the following lines for the "dmesg | grep stmpe-spi" command:

[ 4.601069] stmpe-spi spi0.1: failed to request IRQ GPIO: -16
[ 4.601101] stmpe-spi: probe of spi0.1 failed with error -16

Regards,
Roland

You have an IRQ problem (not the same problem as me).

Can you please post the whole output of dmesg?
Seems there's a problem with the driver. Perhaps another driver is already loaded as in a previous case here.

Also post a photo showing the back of the PiTFT where the flex cable comes through the PCB please. There are a couple of phyical reasons for that kind of signal problem.

800x600 images usually work best.
