I needed to add an analog Input to my first Pi project. The Pi 4 is quite packed and powerful, but there is no analog in, so I'm adding:
1) An Adafruit I2S 3W Stereo Speaker Bonnet for the sound; and
2) A Pimoroni Automation HAT Mini for the analog input.
3) A Cobbler Plus to get access to the GPIO pins. (Seems like the normal way, but a lot of hand wiring)
My question areas are two:
1) What is the recommended way to use two hats? Would a pro stack the two hats and skip almost all the soldering?
Does one daisy chain 40 pin ribbon cables?
Is hat stacking advised and a robust construction method for a serious commercial product?
2) The project will use a 10.1" capacitive touch screen which has room to include the Pi 4 in its own enclosure.
The Labists Pi 4 kit I'm using comes with a nice case and heat sink/fan unit for the Pi.
They both are set up to include the RaspPi4 internally in their own case. I thought that would simplify things.
I had the Pi in the touch screen case. The Pi fan/heat sink doesn't fit.
I moved the Pi to its standalone case, and now I have to use special cables to extend the USB's and HDMIs to the front panel and power to the touch screen board.
Now I think that using either Pi case has limitations and I should just mount the Pi internally like a [very small] mother board.
Is internal case-less mounting advised? The Pi case seems difficult to internally mount as it seems to want to be a desktop unit.
Twp RaspPi 4 hats - Stack headers or Cobbler Plus them?

- This is how I intended to use two hats on a Pi4 - through a Cobbler Plus.

If you have the space I would use the Phat Stack and ditch the Cobbler. It would give you a lot of access to the peripherals and room to grow if you need it.

Depending on how you are going to use the Pi internal mounting could be fine. If it is going to be driven hard doing graphical tasks you might need to add some heat sinks.
