was able to successfully run headphone/speaker test ( p22 of 44) from adafruit-braincraft-hat-easy machine learning document.
when I attempted to play a wav file with aplay any .wav I got the following error of SSH. See file.

any help would be welcome

Hi Tom,

It looks like you are missing a necessary library required for aplay to execute.

Can you try installing this package:
