Invoice # 2666610, purchased September 27th.
I got the package quickly, however one of the two screens will not power on at all. I've done the following, in his order, to troubleshoot:
1) swapped the screens, with wire harness, to the other port and boot. The original working screen turned on and displayed properly. Other did not power on.
2) swapped the wiring harness. The same screen that had worked previously stayed working, other did not power on.
3) desoldered and completely swapped the posts and soldered new ones in, repeated the above steps with the same results. One consistently powers on and displays correctly while there other did not power on at all.
So I believe I simply have one defective TFT screen, how can I go about getting a replacement? I'll happily ship this one back if needs be.
Thanks!

Re: Adafruit Animated Eyes Bonnet for Raspberry Pi: one scre
Please post some photos showing the current soldering job.
In addition to the TFT displays and wiring harnesses, there is a fair amount of soldering required on the Bonnet. So we should check the soldering on all that as well.

This is the soldering on the bonnet itself.
One panel, regardless to which side of the bonnet I connect it to, reliably boots up and shows the eye animation for the correct side. The other panel will not power on regardless to which side it's connected to, or whether it's the only display or not.

Is the photo above the working or non-working TFT?

It's of the non-working TFT display. I can clean those two up, but regardless to which side of the bonnet I connect it to, it won't power up.
I'll do it tonight and test and post pictures.

Yep, just check for any pins on the TFT that may be in a similar state. Those two are just examples of what to look for.

Re: Adafruit Animated Eyes Bonnet for Raspberry Pi: one scre
This is the attached setup showing one screen working, the problem screen not powered on.
This is the exact same thing, all I did was swap the TFT screens. The problem one still has the protective cover on it. It still does not power on. Attached to the same wires and bonnet connections, the reliable screen turns on and displays the eyeball properly.
I believe the screen itself is the problem.

Thanks. That looks OK.
Is this possible screen damage? Or is that just something on the protective cover?

The white line was a stray dog hair (no project is complete without at least one!), not sure if there is any damage underneath as the screen has never even lit up but I will check again when I get home.

OK, just an illusion. The hair and sharpie mark on the protective cover were working together to really look like a cracked screen. Glad that's not the case.
Do you happen to have any other boards that could be used to test the display stand alone? Like an Arduino board of some kind?

Re: Adafruit Animated Eyes Bonnet for Raspberry Pi: one scre
I have several Rasp Pi's but I do not have any free Arduino boards at the moment. I've never even seen this tft screen light up. Which pins exactly are for power only and I assume it uses either 3 or 5 v. What if I provide power of either 3 or 5 v from battery directly to the board, bypassing the existing solder connection; it should at least light up, right?
It can't be the bonnet, because I can switch the working tft screen to either side and it works correctly. I've tried the non-working tft on both sides and alone, it never lights up.
So the issue must be at the tft screen or board. I've redone my solders completely once, but might be worth it to bypass them like I'm describing.

Re: Adafruit Animated Eyes Bonnet for Raspberry Pi: one scre
Agree it seems to be local to the display. Let's try one last test. Remove the bonnet and wire:
Pi 3V to TFT Vin
Pi GND to TFT GND
With just those connections, you should at least get the backlight of the TFT to come on. The display will generally be dark, but you should be able to see the backlight, like around the edges of the display.

I will test that tonight after work and take pics of what happens, thank you!
