Hello,
I recently bought the Adafruit DC & Stepper Motor HAT for Raspberry Pi to run a non-captive stepper motor. I am looking for recommendations or advice on what kind of specifications I need to look for in a non-captive stepper motor for it to run well with this HAT.
If you could also recommend a stepper motor from either https://www.helixlinear.com/ or www.haydonkerkpittman.com, that would be extremely helpful, as I don't want to spend the money on a stepper motor for it to suffer from vibration due to incorrect electrical specifications.
I appreciate any help/advice/recommendations that you can provide.
Thank you!

Re: Adafruit DC & Stepper Motor HAT for Raspberry Pi - Capti
The drivers on the motor HAT are simple H-bridges and do not have current limiting, so you need to choose a motor with a high enough phase resistance. Generally motors with a phase resistance of 10 ohms or higher work well with the HAT. https://learn.adafruit.com/all-about-st ... he-stepper
It looks like most of the Haydon Kerk motors would be compatible. The Helix motors appear to be designed for use with a "chopper" type current limiting driver.
