PiTFT install results in no boot

Post by dawatson_1 »

I've tried to follow the posted instructions on installing the software needed to drive the 2.8" 320x240 w/Touchscreen for Raspberry Pi - and both times, following reboot, i get a black screen with the following text:
[ 6.758224] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] No Caching mode page found
[ 6.763855] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache

The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free...
the exact distribution terms for each program are described in...
individual files in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright.

At this point - no mouse movement or keyboard strokes detected..

Thoughts?

Is this the correct section for Support? I submitted an issue on 1/16/2022 (10 days ago) and would like a reply. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay.

/dev/rfkill is a system feature that shuts off all radio devices connected to the computer. It has nothing to do with the PiTFT, but would shut down anything like a Wifi connection if it executed properly.

The error message above bascially says you need root permissions to use that feature, and that the kernel refused to let your login account do anything with it.

Again though, that isn't part of the PiTFT install as far as I know.. there's no reason to touch the network at all. It would probably be a good idea to check anything else yoy may have installed, or any other device tree overlays you've enabled.

I tried to reinstall the touchscreen drivers using the instructions found here (https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-pit ... -install-2)
The screen (Post-Install) shows a frozen screen at the pi@raspberrypi: prompt..

Suggestions?

The color image above shows a successful login.

Also, based on the output, it looks like /dev/rfkill is being called by the login account. That's probably from something in the login script. What output do you get from:

Code: Select all

cd ~ ; ls -a

I don't think i can run the bit of code you supplied. After installation of the PiTFT software, the Raspberry 'freezes' - no ressponse from keyboard or mouse. When I restart the system, the boot process stops at the same place and the Mouse/Keyboard are frozen.

I have to re-burn the SD card with a fresh PI System, then go through the installation process for the PiTFT software.

Hmm.. what do you get if you execute the commands above before you do the PiTFT install?

Also, what OS image are you using for the base install?
