micro lipo charger usbc data pins

Post by ZavierJacob »

How do I use the data pins on the usbc micro lipo charger? I want to read data about the battery to the adc onboard a seeeduino.

The D+ and D- pins are straight pass-through from the USB C jack. There is no data available from the charger.

If you have an ADC on your microcontroller board, you can measure battery voltage via the BAT pin. If you are using a 3.3v processor, you will need a voltage divider to scale the battery voltage to a safe level for your ADC.

When I connect my battery to the micro lipo charger it starts to smoke. I have it soldered to a header pin and plugged into a breadboard.

Your battery is wired with reverse polarity. The polarity is marked on the circuit board and there is a warning about that in the product description:

For use with Adafruit LiPoly/LiIon batteries only! Other batteries may have different voltage, chemistry, polarity or pinout.
