I am building a second keyboard for my laptop using a raspberry pi 4 with a 7" touchscreen. Obviously, the Pi must be connected to the laptop through the USB-C port to send the keyboard commands to the laptop. The problem is not all USB-C ports give the full 5V 3A. I tried to find a powered USB-C hub that would connect to the laptop and Pi while supplying 5V 3A but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can power the Pi through external means while still using the USB-C to USB-C connection between the Pi and laptop for communication?
Thanks
Tim

Re: Extra power for RP 4 and touchscreen
Most powered USB-C hubs should be able to provide up to 53W to 85W or more than enough for the Pi, but you will have to use a wall power adapter with the hub as your PC will not provide enough current off it's USB-C port on its own.
If you want to look at other options there is:
* Power over Ethernet

* The 40-pin GPIO header can still be powered directly with some additional suggestions for fuse safety here;
