Raspberry Pi - Stop to work

by rodrigokroll on Mon Mar 28, 2016 2:15 pm

My Raspberry Pi 2 - Model B - ARMv7 with 1G RAM[ID:2358] stopped to work after I rebooted the system right after a linux "dd" command from a local ISO file to one of the USB devices (/dev/sda1).

The SD card I tested in another machine and is working, I formatted and recreate the partitions also but still not working.

Both LED's (red and green) stay ON when I plug the power.

Eveything was working fine with Raspbian, after the "dd" command and then the reboot command, Raspberry never came back.

I'd like to know if is there any additional procedure to be done or a reset factory of the board or just the replacement.

The SD card I tested in another machine and is working,

Did you test with another Raspberry Pi and verify that it boots?

No, unfortunately I don't have another Raspberry to test.

I tested using the SD card in another machine and the SD card is recognized correctly. Also, I changed delete the partition and create as NTFS and was possible to read/write files to the SD Card.

I appreciate your contact,

I suspect that your 'dd' command may have inadvertently overwritten the boot partition on the card. Let me check with one of our experts in that area.

I totally understand your point, but after the system crashes I erased the SD card and prepared it again to boot. As far as I know the dd could corrupt the SD card data through a buffer overflow, but don't damage the SD card hardware. That's why I recreated the SD card with the appropriately image in order to try loading the system again.

its *possible* but unlikely - i'd use the raspberry pi loader on windows or mac and try that - the Pi is probably fine. you may need a new SD card
if it worked and you did something and it stopped working after that thing, its probably the thing that did it ;)
