4-Pin USB FTDI USB Cable to Bypass RPI

Post by Rickbar »

My question is that I have a 3d printer that uses a Rumba (Arduino M2560) Board and a RPI running Octoprint which is connected to the Rumba board thru a USB Mini-b (5-pin) female connector. I noticed that adjacent to the Micro Mini port are 4 Pins for a USB Connector that can be used for programming ( mass=black data+=green data-=white vcc=red). What does Adafruit have that I can use as a USB connector to connect to those pins for me to, either, use my RPI network or connect directly to my computer by USB FTDI COM port simultaneously and not have to keep opening up the 3d printer to disconnect the cable from the RPI and connect the USB cable from my computer. I would love to be able to turn off my RPI at will and connect thru the 4 pins for direct connection from my computer to use Arduino Ide or Simplify3D. What Adafruit accessories can help me be able to do that.

Please stick to a single thread. Having multiple threads on the same topic in different forums is just asking for confusion.

There's a response in your other thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=97713
