Monster Mask for animated Elf in Christmas Display Moderators: adafruit_support_bill, adafruit

I made a 3 person band, called The MistleTones this Christmas with servo driven head and arms as they play their respective instruments. The motors are driven via DMX. They have elf hats, sunglasses and ZZ Top length white beards on styrofoam heads

It looks like it would be fun to remove the sunglasses and use the Monster Mask instead, but I would need a way to turn the mask on and off in the middle of a show. (OFF most of the time and ON when the band is playing). The show is a "lights to music" synchronized display programmed with xLights and played back via a scheduler. Obviously, DMX control would be ideal, but I am open for ideas.

Suggestions?

I've seen a DMX capable shield at SparkFun. It's currently out of stock, and I haven't tested it, but it might be worth a look.
