Conductive thread good enough for LIS3DH?

by mach_red on Sun Oct 24, 2021 1:32 am

I am trying to wire a LIS3DH to a Flora board, I have set up the Flora properly and the acceldemo spits out the "LIS3DH test!" string in the serial monitor but no readings actually occur. Either it stays blank or "Couldnt start" pops up. I'm using the example code only with the SPI stuff commented out. I have conductive thread looped through the ports needed, will this be enough to sustain a connection?

Simply looping it through will not make reliable contact. It needs to be tied pretty tightly to work well.

Another trick that usually works well for testing is to loop the conductive thread through, then pin it tightly in place by wedging a toothpick into the hole as well. That will press the thread tightly against the plated hole for good electrical contact.

I think only looping will be a loose contact. You have to make some stitches and knots to make the connection durable.
