Wearable LED matrix on 'N95' size mask?

by defwheezer on Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:27 pm

Has anyone tried to make an LED matrix (that can be used to display a few simple mouth shapes) that would be suitable to imbed in a face mask? I have done a lot of rigid LED projects, but not many flexible ones that would be suitable for textiles, especially not in an N95 format face mask size.

What kind of LEDs would be best for a DIY like this?

Thanks!

You can look at this for ideas https://learn.adafruit.com/animating-mu ... -backpacks
There are bigger neopixel matrices but they require a bigger power source. The flexible ones can be gently bent but can be damaged easily if you did that, especially in a wearable.
Lumencouture has wearable displays. There is this too http://www.simonerebaudengo.com/project/unmask
I think those rave party style light up displays - like on T-shirts, are custom printed EL panels using special inks and fabrication. Good luck.
