Audio clip controller

by Tolerator on Wed May 20, 2020 12:21 am

I've got a Darth Vader costume to which I would like to add an audio clip controller, something where I could press several buttons and have Vader pre-recorded audio clips play through the helmet. I've seen the Adafruit soundboard advertised but don't know if it comes with everything shown in the photo, which is two breadboards, two speakers, and various connectors buttons. Has anyone else done something like this?

I think you are looking at the correct general product for your project. It comes in several different flavors.

With built in audio AMP:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2210 (2MB)
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2217 (16MB)

With line level output:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2133 (2MB)
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2220 (16MB)

Compact style with line level output on header pins:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2342 (2MB)
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2341 (16MB)

They all share a common guide, which is here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-aud ... d/overview

With each, you only get the board and some header pins, like this:

So you will have to add any other hardware needed like buttons, power, etc.

Look at some of the Learn guides linked from the product pages for some other ideas. Hope that helps!
