Microcontroller for glasses

by Exodus_AU on Wed May 27, 2020 10:59 pm

Hi,

Building a pair of glasses with a sensor. obviously form factor is huge issue.

My initial prototype was using a flora which worked really great. I tried slimming it down to a gemma and didnt realise it didnt support serial. I bought a Gemma-M0 which doesn't support SoftwareSerial.h

I need a micro-controller which can work with the SRF01 ultrasonic sensor, the sensor uses single wire TX/RX.

Could the trinket do this?

The M0 (including both Gemma and Trinket versions) doesn't need Software Serial. You can create hardware serial ports via SERCOM.

Hi, can i use SERCOM to define RX and TX on a single pin? SRF01 uses single wire for this.

I don't know. I am not familiar with the SRF01.

If you need a small form-factor board that can run SoftwareSerial, there is the ItysyBitsy 32U4: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3677
