PC wont recognize Gemma V2

by chrsnwk on Mon Jun 01, 2020 10:23 am

I've recently received a Gemma V2 on Order #2292160-6333718621 and after installing drivers and trying multiple know goon USB cables i cannot get my PC to recognize it. when i plug it in to the usb port the PC chimes like something is attached, the red light on the gemma comes on briefly, and dimly, then goes out. the same thing happens after i hit the reset button. I've also rebooted the PC after the driver install and the result is the same. do i have a defective board?

What operating system are you running and what kind of USB port are you attaching to?

Unfortunately this may be related to the way the Gemma V2 does USB. Note that it is deprecated product. See warning text at top of product page:

OS is 64 bit windows 10 pro, I've tried a few different usb ports on the PC, not sure how to identify anything more specific about them than that. It's the same port i was able to communicate with a featherboard with no issues. The PC I'm using is based on an intel core i7 920

If you can find a USB 2.0 port, or try using a hub, that might help. Otherwise it's likely the deprecation issue not working with the newer hardware.
