PowerBoost 500c/1000c with 2 LiPo batteries

by underconstrained on Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:26 pm

I'm working on a very blinky wearable and I'm trying to balance battery life and form factor.

I have (2) 400mAh LiPo batteries I'd like to feed into a PowerBoost 500c or PowerBoost1000c. I will be powering about 50 neopixels (at a low brightness/duty cycle) for as long a time as I can.

1.) Would there be any issues in soldering the 2 batteries together in parallel and plugging them into the socket?
2.) Would there be any issues with plugging one battery into the socket, and soldering the other to the Bat & GND pins as an alternate method?

Thanks!

It's strongly discouraged to wire Lipo cells together. You can get multi-cell batteries from the manufacturer, but they are well suited to do that (mostly the ability to combine perfectly matched cells). See https://learn.adafruit.com/li-ion-and-lipoly-batteries/multi-battery-packs.
