LiPoly safe for wearables for kids?

Post by GlanePito »

Hi,

I’m building wearables with my kids, a 10 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. She wants to build a fabric heart shaped necklace with distance sensor, he wants sunglasses with Knight Rider effect.

Using a LiPoly battery seems the obvious choice for both projects. But is that safe enough? Would it help to put the batteries in small 3D printed cases?

I would put them in cases to protect them, as you suggest. Pretty much any electronics that you wear or carry in you pockets has a LiPo battery, so it's not so much the presence, but the potential for damage, that's the problem.
