Flashing RGB LED array powered by Li/Poly battery - TAKE-TWO

Post by Eickelberg »

Hi Dave,
I'm new to the forum world and it looks to me like the way to clear the last hurdle on my project is to create a second post. I hope that's how it works. Thanks in advance for one more pass.

My project is to use seven Diffused 5mm Slow Fade Flashing RGB LEDs https://www.adafruit.com/product/679 in parallel installed into a knit hat to add visibility in inclement weather and dark conditions. I plan to power the LEDs using a 3.7v 2500mAh Lithium Ion Polymer Battery https://www.adafruit.com/product/328.. You previously suggested that I use a 3.3V regulator https://www.adafruit.com/product/4711 upstream of the LEDs and that the battery charging function and switching be accomplished using a Li/Po backpack.

It looks to me like I will need a female micro USB receptacle https://www.adafruit.com/product/1829 to connect a charging cable and AC wall wart to charge the battery. I will also need a tactile switch and since the single pole is out of stock, I've ordered the double pole switch https://www.adafruit.com/product/1685 and I will simply cap the second pole.

The schematic for how I think these products should be connected is attached here. My remaining questions are:
(1) Does the diagram show the correct connections?
(2) If the switch is accidentally left on during charging, can the LED's be damaged?
(3) Does the female micro USB receptacle come with a terminal map for accurate wiring?

Thanks again Dave.

Nothing jumps out as incorrect with it.
