QT Py battery power

by Kidkill on Thu Apr 22, 2021 11:53 pm

Hello, I enjoy using the trinket M0 for small battery powered projects, the QT Py is an obvious little upgrade except for the lack of battery connection options. I'm wondering if you could connect a 3.7v li battery with a diode to the 5v pin, or if adafruit is planning on a backpack at some point, or if there could be any issue using a product like this: https://www.oakdev.tech/store/p6/LiPo-Power-Pack.html#/

I would assume/hope they have tested their product exhaustively. One thing I'm not 100% comfortable with is that it runs two 3.3v regulators feeding the 3v pin (and QtPy): theirs and the QtPy's. As a side note, the sloppiness of their schematic doesn't inspire great confidence in them as engineers.

However, at $6 each (LiPo board and QtPy) it's reasonable to give it a try. FYI their battery connector polarity matches the LiPos Adafruit sells.
