Hello,
I think I may have a bad batch of trinkets from my last order on May 26th.
Order ID 2575835-1690961490
So far I have 58 trinkets that say USB device not recognized. All of the red LED lights do not light up as well when plugged in.
The other 100+ that were tested today were fine.
I am going through the rest of the batch that was ordered to make sure there aren't any more with issues.
We have ordered thousands of these, and never have had this many with issues.
Thank you

Hello,
We have a total of 306 trinkets that says "USB Device not recognized".
58 out of the 306 have the board pins soldered on before we caught the issue.
Please let me know what we can do to resolve this issue.
Thank you

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
Just to be sure on the testing - everything else is the same? Same USB cable, same USB port, same host PC, etc? Only thing different is the Trinket itself?
Please keep in mind that version of the Trinket is deprecated. See warning on top of product page.

It sounds like maybe your use case is for a pre-existing use that depends on that specific Trinket? That's totally fine and why they are still made available. But just want to make sure you are aware of the hardware deprecation as well.

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
whats odd is absolutely nothing has changed with the programming and setup of the trinkets - we have the same components and testing procedure... so its a bit odd to get a large qty with issues
you're going thru a USB 2.0 hub?

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
Correct. Everything on our end is the same for testing and programming all of the trinkets.
I thought it was odd, as I have never seen such a large amount with issues before. I believe the last batch we had ordered was around 500, and 300+ aren't recognized. The rest of them were fine, and were detected with the same cable, port, and computer used. I even also tried connecting them on a second computer we have setup for programming the trinkets, and it did not connect for those ones either.
We have tested another 200 from a new batch that we just received, and have not had any issues with those..so the issue was only with that batch of 300+ units.
Thank you

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
DK - OK before returning them, can you try re-burning the bootloader to the ones with soldered pins - do you have an AVR ICE or an Arduino UNO or something?
nothing has changed with the design in the last few years - and this is the only time we've had anyone come back with 300 used boards that dont work, its very unusual! ;/
in addition we strongly recommend moving away from the trinket '85 and moving to the trinket m0, as there will be more difficulties in the future with the old design!

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
I seem to be having this same issue
35 boards ordered on 6/23/21
I burned a few that I had left from previous order and was all fine.... As soon as I opened this new batch today to burn them non are recognized and only get a green LED when plugged in
this has never happened before except for a random couple of boards
I also have tried several computers and cables.
Did this ever get figured out?

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
Hello,
Unfortunately, I do not have anything on hand to reburn the bootloader.
We had 58 with pins soldered on, and 248 straight out of the package that were not recognized when plugged in.
Also had 8 with no LED's. Total of 314.
All of the new ones we have ordered since then have been fine. Just these ones haven't been able to be programmed.
Thank you

Re: Trinket 1500, USB Device not recognized
going forward, can you use https://www.adafruit.com/product/3500 instead? the Trinket bit-bang USB technique it uses doesn't work as well as it did in 2014, many modern computers won't work well. So while we still carry the Trinket so that people can maintain some older projects, we no longer recommend it.

Hello,
I will have to check with the engineer to see if that trinket is supported for our use.
Everything had been working fine with the exception of this batch, both the units before and after.
Can I please get an RMA exchange started for these?
Thank you
