Can't upload to Pro Trinket ATmega328p 5v 16mh

by deu1 on Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:03 pm

I purchased a Pro Trinket recently and tried to upload the sketch for Andy Doro's NEOMATRIX 8X8 WORD CLOCK. It did not upload and now when I try to upload to the trinket its red led only blinks very quickly 4 times and then turns off. It DOES NOT PULSATE as it is suppose to do in order to upload code. If I press the reset button it just blinks like I described above. The green led stays on. It is a Pro Trinket ATmega328p, 5v, 16mh. The correct board is selected in the Arduino IDE and the correct programmer: USBtinyISP. I also tried to search this forum for help with this, but could not find any posts related to it. I NEED HELP.

When you set the preferences to verbose what do you get when you try to compile and upload?

I have a similar problem, I have in the past uploaded to this trinket, now I have new computer. The red light blinks appropriately but I get this verbose output...

Can you post a picture of your Pro Trinket and the connections you have to it?

This isn't the original circuit, but I went back to the basics and am trying to Blink the LED. The blue LED, when connected to #1 blinks along with the onboard red LED when I press the button once. During this blinking period I try to upload the Blink code and get the error I reported above. Perhaps I'm forgetting something I used to know. Thanks for taking a look.

Franklin,
I have finally been able to upload the sketch into the Pro Trinket using a FTDI cable. Much easier to do it with FTDI.

My problem now is that I can not get the RTC to show the correct time. It always shows the time one hour ahead of my time. I purchased the RTC, Pro Trinket, and 8x8 Neopixel LED display from Adafruit. I tried putting "OBSERVE_DST" to 1 rather than 0, but that didn't work. If I disconnect the 8x8 Neopixel LED display from the Pro Trinket and run a sketch called "RTC_READ_TEST" it shows the correct time in the Serial Monitor. I'm trying to build the Word Clock by Andy Doro. Please Help.

If the RTC is running and showing the correct time in the example code but not in the word clock code it must be a code error in there somewhere.
