Neopixel Longboard

by pmtbs2014 on Thu May 23, 2019 5:23 pm

I am trying to help my little brother program the Trinket 5v. Its an older version with the mini b. We are following the walk-thru for the Trinket Neopixel LED Longboard and using the Arduino software and updated drivers from Adafruit.

When I copy the software into Arduino 1.8.6 and 1.8.7, both with Adafruit AVR 1.4.13 Library. Yet, I'm getting 2 errors.

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
Arduino: 1.8.6 (Windows 10), Board: "Adafruit Trinket (ATtiny85 @ 8MHz)"

sketch_may23d34:1:31: error: Adafruit_NeoPixel.h: No such file or directory

compilation terminated.

exit status 1
Adafruit_NeoPixel.h: No such file or directory

I get the above stated when I try to upload it directly from the instructions.

The below is when I omit from line 1-5

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
C:\Users\pmtja\Desktop\trail323\trail323.ino: In function 'void setup()':

trail323:7:3: error: 'pixels' was not declared in this scope

   pixels.begin();

   ^

C:\Users\pmtja\Desktop\trail323\trail323.ino: In function 'void loop()':

trail323:20:7: error: 'pixels' was not declared in this scope

       pixels.setPixelColor(i, color);

       ^

trail323:47:30: error: 'pixels' was not declared in this scope

     for (i = 0; i < 54; i++) pixels.setPixelColor(i, 0);

                              ^

exit status 1
'pixels' was not declared in this scope

I believe it should all be simple but for some reason its throwing me a curve.....

Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. I did name and save the programs under 2 different names, as you will see. One for each variant.

Sounds like the Arduino IDE is having trouble finding the library file. It is pretty picky about how they are installed. Make sure that Neopixel library is installed in the correct location: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-all ... nstall-use

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude: error: usbtiny_receive: usb_control_msg: sending control message failed, win error: A device attached to the system is not functioning.

 (expected 4, got -5)

It loaded, I think. But now I got the above. I ran thru connections, control panels, properties.

Should I disregard this?

Is the code running? If the uploaded code seems to be running OK, you can ignore that message.
