Trinket 3v times out of USB

by MrJFern on Tue Jun 18, 2019 1:02 pm

I have hooked up an encoder to a (plain vanilla) Trinket 3v to use as a scroll wheel. I've implemented the TrinketMouse.h library and all works well, except that if the encoder isn't spun at least once a minute, it stops working (i.e. you spin the wheel and nothing happens) and has to be re-booted. It is connected through a 2.0 hub on a Mac.
Of note, the built-in encoder switch is connected to an LED on the Trinket, which works fine both before and after it times out. And, if you keep spinning the wheel, it doesn't time out. Is there a polling call or something that needs to be done to keep the connection active?
I tried using both the TrinketMouse and TrinketHidCombo libraries at the same time (TM has scroll wheel inputs and THC doesn't; THC has a USB polling function, TM doesn't) but they conflict and the sketch won't compile.
Anyone?
