need battery solution

I'm building a M0 driven 16 to 24 neopixel art project and need it to run for 7 to 10 days. The project will include a PCF8523 real time clock to shut down the M0 during the day, then reactivate it at night. I would love some battery power suggestions.
I'm thinking about an array of D cell batteries so we can deliver as many amp hours as possible, but more elegant ideas are welcome!

How bright are the neopixels? Assuming full brightness, plus board power...rough guess is that one 5000mah 2s lipo w/small 5v 2 amp regulator will give you ~5 days for typical northern hemisphere summer night.

a small light sensor directly triggering the M0 may draw less power than the oscillator board, easier to program, and sensitivity range can be set to turn on/off. Example hardware/code of the adafruit light sensor can be found on the Hallowing....

the other thought is something like this:

maybe adafruit has a low power timer incorporated into a longer clock based board so that you can turn on/off without having to supply power to the M0 for unused 12 hours of day....

No need for a 2s battery or regulator. The pixels will run perfectly well powered directly by a 1s (3.7v) LiPo cell. The same cell could power the M0 as well.
