0 from USB is expected when running off battery. However, if you are seeing 0 volts on the BAT pin when your battery is connected, then you have a wiring issue somewhere. The + pad and BAT pin are directly connected.

if the USB works and vBAT does not, sounds like a bad diode on the BAT side of the voltage regulator........

At this point I have wired up another 10 since starting this post and there is nothing wrong with the others. I would like to get this one replaced. It isn't the battery because I have tested with several and it isn't the wiring nor the programing I have. This isn't my first project and I have troubleshot enough.

This would explain why it powers with USB and not BAT, but doesn't explain why 0 volts is showing up on the BAT pin. There is no diode between the two. It's a very short copper trace, directly connected. This would be more of an indication of a damaged trace.

Let's just replace it. It's not known if the board was bad upon arrival or was possibly damaged by the soldering to the battery pads. But you have numerous others that are OK.

When you get the replacement, do a continuity check between the VBAT header pin and the VBAT solder pad on the bottom of the board to make sure the trace is good before soldering on the battery leads.

Email support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement Trinket M0.
