Hi,
I hope you can help me figure out how to get this working. I’m trying to make a refrigerator door open alarm. I have LED lightbulb and wired 5V regulator (part 2164) to supply power to M0 when the door opens.
If I plug in USB, the M0 runs Arduino program (piezo buzzes). So the board is good.
But if I plug in JST 5V power source the DotStar is solid red. (No green led)
I measure 5V from just the LED bulb + regulator.
But when M0 is plugged in to LED bulb + regulator the DotStar is solid red, greed LED is off and the red LED is dim and blinking.
I get 2V across the JST connection.
I’m not an EE, I hope you can help me find the problem.
Thanks.

Have you double checked the polarity of the 5v/JST connection?

Recheck the soldering on the JST connector and the regulator end of the JST cable.
Other than the connection between the regulator and the Trinket board I can't think of anything else that would explain it.

Dave,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I tried resoldering all the connections. The red LED is now brighter and blinking. DotStar is still solid red. (No green led)
I think I will try a battery 5V power source to test M0 + JST connection.
