I have a very simple circuit, a 5s battery pack going to your 21v to 5v buck converter and then to the QT PY 5v with a 1N4001 diode.
I am using one PWM output to drive a speed controller for a motor.
It worked for 2-3 hours, then nothing, the QT PY was smoking hot and dead.
I put another QT PY in, good for a few hours then I also noticed it was VERY hot and then kaput.
Nothing else is hooked up, what's wrong??
Thanks
QT PY not reliable / burning out

Please post a photo of your setup showing how everything is connected. Including the speed controller.

Re: QT PY not reliable / burning out
Here is how everything is connected (diagram attached)..
When the battery is plugged, my code outputs a neutral PWM signal to arm the ESC and then after 10 seconds, it starts the motor
at a low RPM. And then the QT PY overheats and burn. Last time it worked fine for 2-3 hours.

Re: QT PY not reliable / burning out
Sorry, it is disassembled now, but it was wired exactly as shown above.
Thanks
