RFID for outdoor entry use?

by dsnowdy on Wed Jan 29, 2020 5:44 pm

I'm looking at something like the PN532 (https://www.adafruit.com/product/364) to use as a switch for my house alarm.

I don't see any mention of weatherproof or outdoor use. Anyone use these with a weatherproof box of any sort and can you provide a link?

Thanks

Dave

The board itself is not weatherproof. But it will work through plastic or glass. It will not work through metal.

We have a limited selection of weatherproof enclosures: https://www.adafruit.com/product/905
But Mouser or DigiKey should have a good selection from manufacturers such as Hammond, Bud and others.
