RFM69HCW file transmission

by sashaT on Wed Mar 03, 2021 11:02 pm

Hi all,

Is it possible to stream at 1-5 fps low quality video from the RFM69HCW modules? I wanted to have the arduino capture the image, write it onto the sd card and then convert it into binary/base64 and then send it to be decoded. I was wondering, is it possible to this more efficiently?

Probably not. The RFM69's bitrate is 19.2kbps, which translates to about 2.3 kilobytes.

Then is it possible to record an mp4, then send it to the computer?

Yes. The RadioHead library has a reliable transmission option that you can use to transmit large pieces of data like files. You'll need to break the file into smaller chunks on the transmitter and reassemble them on the receiver.

I can't promise that the data will arrive at real-time rates though, even with compression.

Thank you! Though I can't seem to find the module. Would you please list it?

Take a look at the 'reliable datagram' example sketches that come with the RadioHead library:
