Mini USB WiFi Module DOES NOT WORK on PI ZERO

by scottjoyce on Thu Mar 25, 2021 8:08 pm

Hello,

I'm new to all this and am used to buying something, plugging it in and having the drivers installed automatically.

I'm using a Pi Zero and just purchased:

Mini USB WiFi Module - RTL8188eu - 802.11b/g/n PID: 2810

This is not working when I plug it into the USB hub. It blinks blue but the OS never recognizes it.

Also, it came with a tiny CD to install drivers but I have no CD drive...How do I get the drivers installed on the PI Zero?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

This WiFi module is well supported on the Pi. When you plug it in do you see any recognition from dmesg / ifconfig / iwconfig utilities? Are you running the current release of Pi OS with updates?
