Multi SSD wifi setup

by R_31 on Tue Apr 06, 2021 1:23 am

I have a project that is running great on a RPI4 and 32 gig thumb drive on my wifi ssid "XXXX". I now want to deploy this setup on a new network wifi ssid "YYYY". I'm running without a keyboard and mouse so I want to set up the SSID for ssid "YYYY" while I'm on ssid "XXXX". I've tried editing wpa_supplicant.conf adding the second ssid as below with poor results, no ssid is recognized. Which file should I alter? How should I alter it?
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
country=us
update_config=1
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

network={
 scan_ssid=1
 ssid="XXXX"
 psk="password1"
}

network={
 scan_ssid=2
 ssid="YYYY"
 psk="password2"
}

Thank you for your help,
Rob

So I read some more and tested and found my errors, there were at least 2.
First, scan_ssid=2 is not allowed, scan_ssid can have values of 0 or 1.
Second, priority is used as follows, a higher number is a more undesirable network.
By fixing these two errors I was able to get the pi to choose between and log onto various networks.

I hope this helps someone else in the future.
