Wireless 8-10 feet away
I am looking for the lowest power option for sending messages about 10 feet away. I wanted to see what people think go with wifi or Bluetooth?

In addition to franklin97355's question:
low power consumption, low power transmission or both?
Duty cycle?
Environment?
BLE consuming 10mW - 500mW @ 3.3V
1mW Xbee running on 3.3V @ 50mA (less while sleeping)
cc3000 running on 3.3V @ 100 - 300mA (RX around 150mA, TX around 250-300mA)
Plus several other short range RF options.

Mostly receive. If there needs to be a sync there would be required to send and receive. It would be looking for a Signal every 1-2 seconds. It is going to be apart of a prank.
