uFL Connector - Does it Require High Insertion Force?

Post by goobyalus »

Hello,

I have these:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2542 (FONA 808 breakout)
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2460 (tiny uFL GPS antenna)
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1991 (GSM uFL antenna)

I feel like I've put a lot of force into it, and I can't get the anntennae to plug in -- I'm afraid to break something. These are all uFL, right? Is there a trick to getting them in? Do I just need to use more force?

Thanks,
Jake

Check If you did not bend some metal already.
ufl requires little force but must be in good alignment (socket and plug) and then it takes little force for it to "snap in".

They didn't look damaged.

I've got them in. It seems they were especially stiff being brand new. It also seems to help getting a slight angle, and rotating it to be parallel with the plane of the board.

Thanks for the help.

be careful when removing - extremely easy to tear the socket from the board
