GPS antenna outside metal box

Post by aarno009 »

I'm building a system with a FONA 808 module, housed in a metal enclosure mounted on (the outside of) a truck. How can I bring the GPS-antenna outside the metal box? The cable is too short; the antenna doesn't seem to be fit for outside usage and I can't find an extensioncord?

There are passive GPS antennas with cables several meters long. We don't happen to carry them.. the only external antenna we have is active, and won't work with the FONA808.. but they aren't hard to find.

Most GPS antennas use SMA connectors, so you'll need an SMA-to-uFL adapter like these:
