FONA 808 cannot read or send SMS Moderators: adafruit_support_bill, adafruit

Hi there!

Fairly new to this, I've ventured to start playing with a FONA808 module as a first POC for an idea I have.

So far I've made my way through soldering the shield onto the Metro board and connecting the antenna and battery... Yeay!

Excited by the blinking LED's, I've even been able to make a call and receive a call!... BUT still struggling to read or send SMS.

When I use the [s] command, I get the below :

FONA> s
Send to #0499xxxxxx (not sharing my number on our first date ;-) )
Type out one-line message (140 char): test
---> AT+CMGF=1
<--- AT+CMGF=1
Failed

I've tried quotes and double quotes around my string, to no avail.

Command [N] gives me :
N
---> AT+CMGF=1
<--- AT+CMGF=1
Could not read # SMS
OK
FONA>

When I receive a text, I get this

+CMTI: "SM",7


Any help would most appreciated!

Apparently I forgot the number 1 rule when contacting Helpdesk... "Have you tried the "Reset" button. :-D
