HUZZAH32 transmission range?

Post by earthres »

Hello,
What range can I expect with a HUZZAH32 transmission? Will it work in an outside weather station several tens of meters from my indoor network router? Is there a way to attach an antenna to extend the range?

@earthres,

Espressif describes the ESP32 WROOM32 chip that the Huzzah32 is using of having a range of 1km under ideal circumstances. People have hacked directional antennas using this WiFi chip (not necessarily the Adafruit version) up to 10km. We don't have any guides on achieving such miraculous results, but espressif does have an article.

Going 10's of meters seems pretty reasonable assuming there are no major obstructions.
