conrol io from another website

by tuunixoy on Sat Dec 30, 2017 9:58 am

Just watched a good tutorial from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekav8Le5a7U
about MQTT + Nodemcu (Controlling appiliances over Internet using your Smart Phone)| IoT Projects | ESP8266

and I want to know beore trying more, that can i make a post of POST or JSON from my own web server to io.adafruit.com
and have it to be connected to my nodeMCU 24/7 that then receives the action ?

I see that ada also have http api https://io.adafruit.com/api/docs/#!/Feeds/updateFeed but is it the same, connected to io dashboard and connected to my device via feeds?

Thank you!

Hi tuunixoy!

Yes, you can use plain HTTP POST requests to create data on Adafruit IO, and any data you create will be published to MQTT subscribers.

The API endpoint you linked to is actually just for updating Feed records, which are just the name of a stream of data (along with some other properties). The HTTP API you're need to create new data is here: https://io.adafruit.com/api/docs/#!/Data/createData.

To make things easier on you, we also have an Arduino compatible library that works great for sending to and receiving messages from Adafruit IO with an ESP8266.

Good luck with your project!
