IO Basics: Digital Output Project (works on 2.4 GHz, but not

by wetblanket on Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:24 am

I made a project based on the Adafruit IO Basics: Digital Output code, to turn a coffeemaker on and off. It worked fine for ages, when my wifi was set to 2.4 GHz, but when I changed the frequency, suddenly the Huzzah seems unable to connect to the wifi, and the relay powerstrip won't turn on/off anymore. I tried looking through the code, but didn't see anything about wifi frequency in it (just wifi name, password).

I'm not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?

If you're using the HUZZAH ESP8266, you can not use a 5GHz network with it. The ESP8266 operates on 2.4GHz.

If your router supports it in settings - you can set up your network as a dual-band network. Alternatively, you can create a 2.4GHz network and a 5GHz network with different SSIDs.

Oh, ok. Yeah, I'm using a HUZZAH ESP8266.
Thanks. I'll see if I can do one of those.
