Can't install Adafruit IO library to PyPortal

by MakeOneUp on Wed Apr 03, 2019 6:11 pm

I'm not able to install the Adafruit IO library to my PyPortal. Trying to use pip installed the library to my computer instead of my PyPortal. Using pip with --install-option and --prefix checked for requirements on my computer too (thus not installing anything.) I then tried downloading the git repository but the python setup.py install command didn't work. Any suggestions?

Hi MakeOneUp,

You can not use pip to install the CircuitPython Adafruit IO library to your PyPortal.

First, try connecting your PyPortal to the internet: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-pyp ... -file-15-1

Once it's connected, you can install the Adafruit IO library by following the instructions listed here: https://learn.adafruit.com/iot-pyportal ... lation-3-1

Thanks. I tried downloading the circuitplayground version of the repository, but python setup.py install still didn't work I figured out to use the library bundle though, and it worked. Thanks!
