NOOBS Sd Card Setup Problem

Post by Elon_Musk »

Hi, I recently received my order of my Pi 0, Micro Sd card and power supply. I decided to boot my Pi (I ordered an sd card with NOOBS installed) and when I stick in the sd card, connect it to my computer, nothing happens. Just a green light turns on. What do I have to the sd card for it to boot? I thought you just have it already installed, plug it in the Pi, then your computer and done. Am I doing something wrong or did I receive a bad sd card?

You may have gotten an older NOOBS card and a newer RasPi.

The RasPi Foundation does hardware updates that break back-compatibility with older OS images.. usually things like using a new RAM module that the older images don't know how to talk to. Those tend to arrive without warning. A few months ago we got a batch of 10k NOOBS cards that became obsolete about two weeks later.

Try downloading a fresh Raspbian OS image and writing it to the SD card:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

There are links to installation instructions on the same page.

If that works, we can refund the price of the pre-written SD card.

Yes, rewriting, and downloading noobs has worked. Guess just an old SD card.

Glad to hear that got the RasPi running. Happy hacking!
