Weatherstation using mobile broadband

by Janigel_skole on Mon May 27, 2019 5:25 am

Hi! I have built a weather station based on HUZZAH esp8266. It works perfectly on both standard internet and mobile broadband. The problem is that it use about 1GB per day on mobile broadband, and that cost a lot of money to keep it running. I have tried to use deep sleep, but it don't give the desirable effect.

Initially, I think it must me something on the WiFi between the HUZZAH and my mobile router.

Anybody out there who has solved a problem like that?

Thank's JHI

Without deepsleep, Adafruit IO Arduino (assuming you're using it) will keep its connection alive by pinging the Adafruit IO server. You may want to check out the Adafruit IO Arduino deepsleep example (https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_IO ... psleep.ino).

You could also try sending less often, but with all of your data bundled inside one POST to Adafruit IO. For example, sending a value containing all your weather information separated by a delimiter, and then parsing out the delimiter.
