trying to install esp8266 library manager

by jimk123 on Sat Aug 17, 2019 7:09 pm

I am trying to follow this tutorial
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-io- ... o?view=all

it says: Next, use the Board manager to install the ESP8266 package
the screen image shows “ESP8266 by ESP8266 Community but I do not see that anywhere, I see dozens of packages that start with esp8266 but none that have "Community " in the name

I am using arduino IDE 1.8.5 and win10
thanks

You need to add the ESP8266 board manager URL into the Additional Board Manager URLs field in the Arduino preferences.

Follow this step in the guide:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-io- ... ckage-6-10

Does searching for "esp8266" in the package manager return the board?

Could you take a screenshot of the board manager?
