by Gilleyrl on Thu Feb 06, 2020 8:36 pm

Hello, Attempting to use the Feather Huzzah ESP8266 for Adafruit IO.
Installed the Libraries Adafruit IO arduino, adafruite MQTT, and the adafruite HTTP client, as detailed in the product description. Opened the examples adafruite _00_00_publish, clicked on config.h
set SSID and Password.
opened Tools menu
Adafruit Huzzah ESP8266 was not listed in the boards menu.

Also the sketch would not compile.

Thank you for you help.

Thank you for your response. I have loaded the Adafruit AVR Library, the ESP8266 is not listed in the library and thus is not brought up in the Boards Manager.
I followed up with the Arduino Menu on the Mac which adds a URL to the Additional Boards Manager URL option. Adding the following
https://adafruit.github.io/arduino_boar ... ndex.jason, as directed. Perhaps there is an error in my procedure.

But nothing changed. I cannot find anything definitive in learn.adafruit.

Thank you again

The ESP8266 is not an Atmel AVR chip. Go to the Arduino board manager and search for ESP8266 and install that file.

Franklin, Pilot error here. Was able to load ESP8266 via arduino.esp8266.com.
Thank you again.
